DAMA Occupations Far North Queensland

The Far North Queensland Designated Area Migration Agreement has been expanded to include many more lower-skilled occupations that are in demand.

These include occupations like

  • Bar Attendant and supervisor
  • Waiter and supervisor
  • Tour guide
  • Deck Hand
  • Waiter
  • Housekeeper
  • Farm Workers
  • Other hospitality workers.

This is a short summary of occupation and the full list and requirements can be found at https://www.vetassess.com.au/portals/0/downloads/dama/Queensland-DAMA_Occupation_List_and_FAQs_booklet_brochure.pdf. Sponsorship under a DAMA agreement allows lower-skilled workers to obtain employer sponsorship for both temporary and permanent residency visas.  Check out the full list today, discuss with your employer and call us if assistance is needed (1300MYVISA).

Travel Bubble Closed
The Australia – New Zealand travel bubble is now closed for two months due to the growing number of cases and the community restrictions currently in place.  We will advise when this bubble reopens accordingly.

Exit Exemptions
There appears to be some misinformation around the ability to exit if you are permanently resident offshore. An automatic exemption is available without needing to apply for an exemption if you are ordinarily resident in another country. You will need to prove your permanent offshore residency at the point of departure. You may be refused departure permission if you cannot present strong evidence of your offshore residence.

You should produce items such as:

  • Evidence of retaining a full time residence offshore in your name
  • Evidence of dependent family members also residing offshore with you.
  • Evidence of full time offshore employment.

We would advise that it would otherwise be prudent to apply for an exit exemption in advance of departure.  To do so will require the preparation and submission of a statutory declaration attaching evidence of your offshore residence.

Priority appointments on Timeforadvice.com
As a business that has also been impacted by the pandemic, we wish to start re-commercialising areas of the business. As the owners of the business, my wife Michelle and I have made the decision to do two paid appointments a day (strictly enforced) and these appointments will be considered priority appointments and can be scheduled at times convenient to the client and locked into our calendars. We are charging for these appointments as we will both extend our working day by two hours so those who cannot afford to pay are not impacted. You can also book a priority appointment to request us to file a travel exemption on your behalf.

The cost of the appointments will be $100. These appointments allow for a one-hour discussion (strictly enforced) as well as written advice regarding your prospects following the appointment. You will be able to upload any documents you wish to discuss prior to the appointment so they are available during the discussion. The appointments will be conducted through timeforadvice.com, our DIY Platform.

Click here to view our video on how to easily book a priority appointment on our website.

Go to timeforadvice.com and sign up (https://app.timeforadvice.com/client/signup)

Go to the dashboard and in the ‘Type a new question here…’ field put – ‘Priority Appointment Requested’ with at least two available times for the appointment.  If you are requesting us to file a travel exemption put ‘Travel exemption application requested’.

In the ‘Give some additional details..’ window please firstly advise how you would like to conduct the appointment (Skype, Microsoft Teams and telephone). Then give an outline of your circumstances for us to discuss during the appointment. If you are requesting a travel exemption do not put appointment times, but outline your circumstances that you believe warrant an exemption.  We will also need your proposed travel dates, address and contact details (email and telephone).

In the ‘Drag file here..’ window, drag and drop any documents you would like reviewed and discussed during the appointment. For travel exemptions we will require visa grant notices or visa application acknowledgements, passports, itinerary and proof of address to be uploaded.  Any additional information will be requested through the portal.  (Important note:  Exemptions to enter require the applicant to have a valid visa or a visa application pending).

  1. Nominate a ‘Price’ of $100 and follow the subsequent prompts to complete.
  2. Nominate your visa category if known and submit by pressing ‘Ask Now’.

Once received we will confirm the appointment (you will receive a confirmation in the portal and a corresponding email). We will then send you a calendar invitation to the appointment and that time will be locked in. After the appointment, a written advice will be prepared and uploaded to your account in timeforadvice.com.

For entry and exit exemptions we will confirm receipt and request further documents if needed through the portal. The transaction number for the exemption application will be uploaded in the portal when complete.
